MARKETING INTERN
Job Title: Marketing Intern – 2

Pay: $12/hour
Overview:
The North Dakota State Fair is seeking two dynamic and highly motivated Marketing Interns to assist with front office duties, customer service, and the coordination of various events. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in event planning, marketing, customer relations, and operations during one of the most exciting and high-profile events in the region. The interns will work closely with event planners, vendors, and sponsors to ensure the success of multiple family-oriented activities throughout the fair.
Key Responsibilities:
- Front Office and Customer Service:
- Serve as the first point of contact for patrons, partners, sponsors, event coordinators, and vendors.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and assisting with event-related needs.
- Open and close the office daily, ensuring all tasks are completed and the office is secure.
- Manage phone calls and emails, redirecting as needed to appropriate staff.
- Event Coordination and Marketing: (events split between 2 interns)
- Assist in the entire event planning process for a variety of activities including:
- Diaper Derby & Toddler Trot
- Kid’s Tractor Pedal Pull
- Ranch Rodeo
- Cornhole Tournament
- Pepsi Deals Day
- KX Co-Op Day
- Family Day
- Run the Route 5k
- Stick Horse Race
- Mutton Bustin’ Contest
- Calf Scramble Contest
- Kid’s Show-De-O
- Military Appreciation Day
- Senior Day Festival
- Additional events may be added
- Coordinate with event planners, vendors, and sponsors to ensure smooth event execution.
- Assist with event registration and participant engagement.
- Help with social media marketing efforts to promote events and increase patron participation.
- Photograph events, interview participants, and gather content for marketing purposes.
- Send thank-you cards to participants, volunteers, sponsors, and partners after each event.
- Compile post-event reports to evaluate success and suggest improvements.
- Assist in the entire event planning process for a variety of activities including:
- Marketing Support:
- Assist with social media marketing to promote events and engage the local community.
- Develop creative content that aligns with the vision of the North Dakota State Fair, while ensuring brand consistency.
- Support event promotions through online platforms, email campaigns, and other marketing channels.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse groups of people.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Creative thinking and the ability to come up with fresh ideas for marketing and event promotion.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must be available to work flexible hours during the fair (July 17-25, 2025), including weekends and evenings.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and handle physical tasks during event set-up and tear-down.
- A positive attitude and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Experience with photography, social media marketing, or event planning is a plus but not required.
Work Hours:
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (may vary based on event schedule).
- Flexible hours with potential for extended shifts, especially during the fair (July 17-25, 2026).
- Required to work weekends during the fair.
Term of Internship:
- Immediate start, with a tentative end date of July 31st, 2026. Extension of the internship may be possible depending on agreement between the intern and the North Dakota State Fair.

GROUNDS CREW
Job Title: Grounds Crew
Location: North Dakota State Fairgrounds – Minot, ND
Job Type: Part-Time & Full-Time Positions Available
Start Date: Immediate Openings
Position Overview:
Join the team that keeps the North Dakota State Fairgrounds in top shape! We’re hiring reliable, hardworking individuals to assist with grounds maintenance and prep as we gear up for the 2025 Fair. This is a hands-on position ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and take pride in keeping spaces clean, safe, and welcoming for visitors. For the right fit, the position may become permanent following the fair.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- General upkeep of fairgrounds including mowing, weed trimming, trash removal, and sweeping
- Set-up and tear-down of event equipment, signage, and fencing
- Assisting vendors, exhibitors, and other departments with grounds-related needs
- Cleaning restrooms, buildings, and outdoor areas
- Operating small machinery and tools as needed
- Ensuring safety standards are maintained throughout the grounds
- Other duties as assigned by the Grounds Supervisor
Qualifications:
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
- Ability to follow directions and complete tasks efficiently
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor
- Prior groundskeeping or maintenance experience is a plus, but not required
Schedule & Availability:
- Scheduled hours based on needs.
- Overtime hours may be available during peak times

Events Support Staff
Work Ethic: Must be trustworthy, dependable, and respectful and commit to excellent customer service. Have the ability to follow policies and procedures and take responsibility.

- Setting buildings for events
- Managing winter storage
- Cleaning and Maintenance
- Mowing lawn or moving snow
- Keeping the North Dakota State Fair Grounds clean and maintained.
