Indian Horse Relay Canceled for July 22 Due to Track Conditions
MINOT, N.D. – July 22, 2025 -Due to significant rainfall and resulting track conditions, the North Dakota State Fair and the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara (MHA) Nation have made the difficult decision to cancel tonight’s MHA Indian Horse Relay.
The safety of the horses and their riders remains the top priority. After a careful evaluation of the track following recent rains, officials determined that continuing with the event would pose unnecessary risk to both participants and animals.
“We know how much our guests and the riders look forward to this event,” said Craig Rudland, North Dakota State Fair Manager. “This was not an easy decision, but the safety of all involved must come first. We’re incredibly grateful to MHA Nation for their partnership and to the fans for their understanding.”
The North Dakota State Fair encourages guests to explore the many other events and attractions still scheduled for the evening and throughout the rest of the week. For a complete list of updated events and activities, visit ndstatefair.com.
