The North Dakota State Fair features many large buildings that are ideal for housing seasonal vehicles over the long winter. The buildings feature large doors that are perfect for cold storage of any size.
The storage season begins in September and runs into April. Starting September 8, 2026, the State Fair will be accepting units to be stored into late March/mid-April. Units can be stored on Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Due to other events we will NOT ACCEPT storage during the following dates:
- September 11th ND Meat Goat Show
- October 8th-12th (2025 PRCA Badlands Circuit Finals)
- November 5th-6th (The Big One Art & Craft Fair)
- November 11th (Veteran’s Day)
- November 18th-20th (Festival of Trees)
- November 26th -27th (Thanksgiving)
- December 24th -25th (Christmas)
- ANY OTHER DAY THE OFFICE IS CLOSED
Storage Rental Process
1. Complete the WINTER STORAGE APPLICATION
2. ND State Fair staff will contact you for payment. *Once payment is made for your reservation, no refunds will be processed.
3. Drop off item to be stored and sign contract.
4. Pick up on scheduled “out” date in late spring. Each unit must be retrieved on the specified out date.
5. Any vehicle taken off Fairgrounds property without being checked out will waive all rights to damages!
As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining safe and reliable storage facilities, we want to inform you of an upcoming change for the 2026–2027 winter storage season. Beginning next year, all storage rates will reflect a 10% increase.
New Rates for the 2026–2027 Storage Season (effective Fall 2026):
(Measured from the hitch to the furthest back point of the unit)
Outdoor Storage: $165
Under 10 feet: $110
10–15 feet: $190
16–24 feet: $275
25–30 feet: $430
31–35 feet: $540
36–40 feet: $660
Over 40 feet: Add $22 per additional foot
Units over 9 feet wide will be charged double the rate
We also want to let you know about an important update to how we communicate with storage patrons:
- We will no longer be mailing paper letters.
- All future communication regarding winter storage will be sent by email or text message, with your consent.
