Minot, ND – July 22, 2024 –

The North Dakota State Fair is excited to announce the successful completion of the annual “Run the Route” race, which took place Saturday, July 20, 2024. This event is one of many highlights of the Fair’s extensive schedule, bringing together runners of all ages and abilities for a fun and competitive race along the parade route or through Minot. The race began at 8:45 am at Our Redeemers Church (South Hill Sports Complex), with registration opening at 7:30 am. Participants had the option to run a 5K route, while spectators cheered them on. The route was carefully planned to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all runners. “We are thrilled to host the ‘Run the Route’ race again this year,” said Lindsay Hoes, Race Director/Owner of Run with Heart and Sole. “It’s a wonderful way to kick off the weekend activities at the Fair and engage the community in a healthy and fun event.” The first 300 registrants received a commemorative race T-shirt and all participants received gate admission to the fair for the day. Great River Federal Credit Union shared the celebration at the finish line with their mascot, Marvin the Moose. Fair concert tickets and trophies were given to the top 3 Overall Male and Females and additional prizes were given to the top finishers in each age category. This year’s race saw an impressive 485 registered participants, up from 365 last year, with around 435 finishers. The event promised and delivered a vibrant and energetic start to the fair day.

Fun Stats for This Year:
• 76 runners participated in the 12 and under category, showcasing strong enthusiasm
from young athletes.
• The oldest participant was 80 years old, and the youngest was just 1 year old.
• The event attracted many participants from out of town, with 34% of runners coming from

After the race, runners and spectators were invited to stay and enjoy the Fair’s many attractions, including
live music, food vendors, and family-friendly activities. The fairground was bustling with excitement,
offering something for everyone to enjoy.
