Layton Woodbury and Stetson Long Take Top Honors at Inaugural Battle of the Rumblehorn

MINOT, N.D. – August 4, 2025 – The first-ever Battle of the Rumblehorn brought two nights of action to the North Dakota State Fair’s Arena 1—and the results are in.

More than 20 bull riders from the Badlands Pro Bullriding Series took on Bailey Pro Rodeo’s toughest bulls in a showdown that kept crowds on the edge of their seats. When the dust settled, Stetson Long emerged as the overall bull riding champion with an 84-point ride on Night 2, following his 78-point performance on Night 1. Cole Brewer secured second place with a strong 82-point ride.

“It was the perfect way to kick off the week,” said Brewer. “The crowd was electric, and those Bailey Pro buckers came to buck. Dakota Blender had a good trip, but when he hit the corner, I knew I had him.”

Freestyle bullfighting, rarely seen in North Dakota, was another fan favorite. Six elite fighters—Layton Woodbury, Cauy Pokorny, Dane Pokorny, Kolten Johnson, Gabe Tupper, and Cole Pfister—competed for the title. After advancing from Monday’s qualifying rounds, Layton Woodbury clinched the championship with an 89.5-point fight, followed by Cauy Pokorny with 84 points.

“Freestyle bullfighting is hard to come by in North Dakota, so it was extraordinary to do this in front of my family,” said Woodbury. “To put two solid bullfights together and win it—it was very cool.”

Despite rain canceling Tuesday’s Indian Horse Relay racing, fans packed into North Dakota State Fair’s Arena 1 for the Rumblehorn finale, where energy remained high. A special appearance by the Budweiser Clydesdales, presented in partnership with Folds of Honor, added a patriotic touch to opening night festivities and the check presentation ceremony.

Produced in partnership with Rodeo Minot, Hooked Up Enterprises, Badlands Pro Bullriders, and Bailey Pro Rodeo, Battle of the Rumblehorn made its debut with a bang—and fans are already calling for its return to the North Dakota State Fair lineup.
