North Dakota State Fair Celebrates Seniors During Annual Senior Day

MINOT, N.D. – The North Dakota State Fair proudly celebrated Senior Day on Thursday, July 23rd, welcoming approximately 400 seniors for a day of entertainment, fellowship, education, and patriotic fun. Sponsored by Trinity Health and Bellus Medical, this annual tradition honored older adults while embracing the Fair’s 2026 theme, “Celebrate the BIG 250 – The Fair Way!”

The day began with the Presentation of Colors and the National Anthem, setting the tone for a celebration of both America’s 250th anniversary and the generations who have helped shape our communities.

The event was emceed by Lois Zahn of the Senior Coalition, who kept the day’s activities moving while welcoming guests and recognizing the many organizations serving North Dakota’s senior community.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., seniors enjoyed a full schedule of activities. Complimentary cookies and coffee welcomed guests throughout the morning, while Birdman provided live entertainment. A special discounted lunch featuring sandwiches and burgers was also available.

Attendees had the opportunity to visit 24 booths from businesses and organizations offering resources and services specifically for seniors. Throughout the day, guests played bingo, America 250 trivia, and other interactive games to earn extra entries into the grand prize drawing while reconnecting with friends and meeting new people.

The celebration concluded with an Ice Cream Social before the grand prize drawing. Mark Howling Wolf of White Shield, North Dakota, was the lucky winner of a Medora getaway package, which included two tickets to the Medora Musical, two tickets to the Pitchfork Steak Fondue, and a one-night stay at the Elkhorn.

“Senior Day is all about recognizing and celebrating the generations that have helped build our communities,” said Faith Malsom, Marketing Intern for the North Dakota State Fair. “It was wonderful to see so many people come together and celebrate America’s 250th anniversary. I loved planning this event, seeing it all come together truly made my week.”

The North Dakota State Fair extends its sincere appreciation to Trinity Health and Bellus Medical for sponsoring Senior Day. Special thanks also go to Lois Zahn, the Senior Committee, and the 24 participating businesses and organizations whose dedication and support helped make this year’s event another memorable success.
