The 2026 North Dakota State Fair has officially come to a close after nine unforgettable days of celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary the North Dakota way. Under the theme “Celebrate the BIG 250… The Fair Way!”, fairgoers from across North Dakota and beyond came together to celebrate agriculture, entertainment, history, and community while creating lifelong memories.
North Dakota showed up in a big way.
Over the course of the nine-day Fair, 349,706 guests filled the fairgrounds, experiencing everything from world-class entertainment and championship competition to agriculture, family activities, educational exhibits, and more free attractions than ever before.
New experiences helped define the 2026 Fair. Visitors explored the interactive Freedom 250 Truck, celebrating America’s founding and the nation’s continued pursuit of liberty, while the debut of Agriculture Acre inside the State Fair Center gave families the opportunity to experience hands-on agricultural education, commodity exhibits, cooking demonstrations, and interactive displays showcasing the importance of North Dakota agriculture.
Also making its debut was the North Dakota State Fair mobile app, giving guests a new way to experience the Fair. With interactive maps, daily schedules, entertainment listings, food and vendor directories, contest information, and real-time notifications, the app helped fairgoers personalize their visit, discover new experiences, and make the most of their time on the fairgrounds.
Opening Night perfectly captured this year’s patriotic theme as Governor Kelly Armstrong officially opened the Grandstand alongside leadership from Minot Air Force Base before two B-52 Stratofortress flyovers thundered over the fairgrounds, providing an unforgettable tribute to America’s 250th Anniversary.
The Grandstand delivered one of the most diverse entertainment lineups in Fair history. The Grandstand Showpass once again proved to be one of the best values in entertainment with sold-out performances by Jon Pardi, Jessie Murph, Niko Moon, and Zach Top, while the MHA Indian Horse Relay – Battle for the Plains returned for two nights of championship relay racing, drawing enthusiastic crowds as teams competed for the championship title. Fans also packed the Grandstand for Alex Warren, while T.I. featuring DaBaby and Waka Flocka Flame closed out the Fair with an energetic finale. The Fair also welcomed its first-ever large-scale EDM concert in North Dakota history as international superstar Zedd took the stage, introducing an entirely new concert experience to Fair audiences.
In Arena I, the Battle of Rumblehorn returned for its second year, building on the excitement and success of its inaugural appearance, while the Ranch Rodeo continued its steady growth as one of the Fair’s signature western events, showcasing the skill, teamwork, and traditions of the ranching lifestyle.
Across the fairgrounds, free entertainment kept guests engaged from morning until night. Packed audiences gathered daily for the High Dive Show, Daryl’s Racing Pigs, Sea Lion Splash, The Birdman, K-9 Kings, the strolling Patriot Robot, and performances from the Magician & The Muse and the One Man Circus Comedian. Stage 2 offered something for every musical taste with everything from classic hits of the ’60s to country, dance music, and outstanding local entertainers, while the MHA Singers and Dancers shared their culture and traditions throughout the Fair. Evening entertainment continued long after sunset with live music in Flickertail Gardens, giving guests countless opportunities to enjoy the Fair from opening until closing each day.
With so much included in the price of admission, guests found no shortage of ways to spend their day. The North Dakota Game & Fish Outdoor Skills Park, Fur Traders Rendezvous, agricultural exhibits, family attractions, demonstrations, interactive displays, and dozens of free performances created endless opportunities to explore the Fair and experience something new around every corner.
Competition remained at the heart of the Fair experience. Thousands of participants showcased their talents in livestock shows, youth activities, agricultural competitions, and fan-favorite contests. New events including the Mullet Contest, Hot Dog Eating Contest, and Pie Eating Contest quickly became crowd favorites, joining returning competitions such as the North Dakota State Fair Cornhole Championship, North Dakota State Fair Championship Arm Wrestling, and dozens of contests for all ages throughout Fair week.
The Fair also featured more than 200 commercial vendors, over 60 food vendors, and more than 40 carnival rides, including several exciting new attractions that kept the midway bustling throughout the week.
Every special day provided unique opportunities for guests to celebrate together. Family Day, Military Appreciation Day, KX Co-op Day, Senior Day, Festival Water Day, and 811 Day all drew outstanding participation, while the annual Run the Route 5K welcomed a record number of runners, continuing its growth as one of North Dakota’s premier Fair traditions.

Whether someone came for the concerts, rodeos, agriculture, food, competitions, or the free attractions, we hope they left with memories that will last a lifetime.”
The 2026 North Dakota State Fair concluded the same way it began—with a celebration. Following the final Grandstand performance, the Closing Night Fireworks Spectacular lit up the Minot sky, providing a spectacular finale that could be enjoyed from every corner of the fairgrounds. Whether gathered in the Grandstand, strolling the midway, or taking in one last evening with family and friends, fairgoers shared one final moment together as they celebrated the BIG 250…the FAIR Way.
